Lazio have categorically refuted the circulating reports regarding their transfer market crisis and inability to sign new players this summer.

Lazio Facing Dire Situation?

Several sources in the Italian press depicted a catastrophic scenario on Thursday, mainly Il Messaggero and Il Corriere dello Sport. These reports claimed that COVISOC (the body that monitors the clubs’ finances in Italy) has decided to block the Biancocelesti’s transfer market plans. In other words, the club would be allowed to sell players, but is prevented from signing new ones.

Lazio Deny ‘Misleading’ Reports

Nevertheless, Lazio have now released a statement on the club’s official website denying the whole story, while insisting that the club remains in a healthy financial situation and will be able to conduct business as usual.

With regard to the misleading news reported today by some press outlets regarding the Company’s financial and economic situation, it is necessary to clarify that there is no reason for concern. SS Lazio has its own resources and a consolidated management structure, which for over twenty years has faced every step with clarity, responsibility and rigor. Economic and financial solidity, the sustainability of the sports project and strategic coherence have always represented, and even more so today, the pillars on which the Club’s identity is founded.

Only Time Will Tell

At this stage, Lazio supporters can only hope that the club’s reassurances turn out to be true; Otherwise, the Aquile would be set for an abysmal summer. The coming days should shed some light on this highly concerning matter.
