Laughable Everton and Newcastle United transfer claim

Gambar artikel:Laughable Everton and Newcastle United transfer claim

Everton and Newcastle United have been targeted with the most laughable of transfer claims.

It is bad enough coming out with 2025 transfer rumours only a fortnight after the summer 2024 one has closed.

However, when it is this kind of nonsense it is just beyond ridiculous.

This is supposedly what is set to happen in January, regarding Newcastle United and Everton.

Journalist Alan Nixon reporting this via his Patreon account on Sunday morning.

Nixon reckons…

Sean Dyche is unhappy with Jordan Pickford’s performances.

Dyche wants Nick Pope as his replacement.

Newcastle United open to letting Nick Pope leave in January.

Eddie Howe wanting James Trafford to replace Nick Pope to be the Newcastle United number one into the long-term.

Not sure where to start with this one.

Now I have to admit I am not Jordan Pickford’s biggest fan BUT if Sean Dyche thinks the twisty faced mackem is Everton’s biggest problem, then I would be amazed.

Admittedly it isn’t the greatest claim to fame but Pickford is one of Everton’s best players, if not the best. Whenever I see them play, he often does well to keep the score down, ensuring they don’t lose by too many.

Looking at their four Premier League games, four defeats, this season so far, Pickford has faced 57 shots with 27 of them on target. Yesterday, whilst Villa had eight shots on target, Everton only had two. Whilst in the defeats to Brighton and Tottenham, Everton only had one shot on target in each game.

I think fair to say that the biggest problem for Sean Dyche, is the ten players who aren’t in goal!

Where it gets seriously crazy though, is that Eddie Howe and Newcastle United would be happy to let Nick Pope go!!

He is one of the very best goalkeepers in the Premier League, he only conceded 32 goals in 37 PL starts in 2022/23 for Newcastle.

Then it was only 16 goals in 15 PL starts last season. His value summed up when Newcastle conceded 46 goals in the 23 PL matches Nick Pope DIDN’T start last season.

This time around, Pope has conceded two goals in three Premier League matches and has been a massive factor in the seven points from a possible nine.

As for Nick Pope wanting to go to Everton… why on earth would he want to go to that car crash of a club that are now looking very good relegation contenders and total turmoil off the pitch? If he did want to leave Newcastle, any number of credible clubs would be interested.

Never mind how Everton could afford to buy Pope, if this laughable transfer tale held any water at all.

The James Trafford claims have been around for ages but that has always been on the basis of the 21 year old coming in as understudy for Nick Pope, to maybe replace him sometime in the distant future, not near future!

Even when a transfer window actually closes and the next one is four months away, still no escape from the media.
