Chelsea are confident striker Liam Delap will choose them over Manchester United this summer according to reports.

It’s shaping up to be another busy summer for the Blues, and it’s believed they could look to sell as many as seven or eight players in order to fund their moves in the market.

Chelsea face a critical window as the club look to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Chelsea confident Delap will choose them

Failing to sign a striker last summer and in January has proven costly for Chelsea, and they desperately need an alternative to Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea are said to have a five man shortlist of options, but it looks like Delap has been identified as one of the main targets.

The 22-year-old is believed to have a release clause of around £30m if Ipswich get relegated, and the Blues are said to have done a lot of work on the deal.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed it’s between Chelsea and United for Delap, and London World have reported the Blues are confident the Ipswich man will choose them over the Red Devils.

Delap has scored 12 league goals in a struggling Ipswich side and it appears certain he will leave the Tractor Boys after just one season at the club.

Maresca has praised Delap on several occasions this season, and he knows the player well having coached him in the academy at Manchester City.

Delap is the profile of striker Chelsea are missing in their squad and his box presence and physicality would give them a much needed different dimension.

However, there is a concern amongst some supporters about whether Delap is a signing that takes Chelsea to the next level, and it would be more beneficial to sign a move proven and experienced striker for Jackson to learn from.
