Last-gasp Bayern strike ends Celtic's dream

Scorers: Kühn 63'; Davies 90+3

Alphonso Davies scored a last-minute winner for Bayern Munich to earn a 2-2 draw with Celtic, which added up to a 3-2 win on aggregate for the Bundesliga giants.

Bayern began the game with plenty of possession, but it was Celtic who threatened the goal the most, without being able to find a breakthrough.

Just before half-time, Harry Kane rattled the crossbar with a shot from a dangerous Bayern cross, but the sides went in goalless at the break, with the Bundesliga side holding a 2-1 lead from the first leg.

Celtic finally made their good play count just after the hour mark, when a terrible mix-up in the Bayern backline was pounced upon by Nicholas-Gerrit Kühn, who delivered a superb finish beyond Manuel Neuer.

And as the game headed for extra-time, Celtic's hearts were broken as substitute Alphonso Davies bundled home from close-range after Kasper Schmeichel had parried the initial shot.

Bayern are through to the last-16, where they will play Bayer Leverkusen or Atlético de Madrid.

Club Brugge demolish Atalanta

Scorers: Talbi 3', 27', Jutglà 45+3'; Lookman 46'

Sent off: Tolói 87'

Club Brugge knocked Atalanta out of the Champions League with a 3-1 win on the night, making a huge 5-2 aggregate victory.

The Belgians put themselves a goal in front away from home within three minutes of the kick-off, a quick break seeing Atalanta scrambling at the back, and a right-footed shot inside the box from Chemsdine Talbi gave the Belgian side a 3-1 advantage in the tie overall.

And when Talbi doubled their advantage with an emphatic finish after some determined play in the box, the tie looked like it was almost out of sight for the Italian side.

Brugge added another in first half stoppage time, a perfect counter-attack leading to a wild shot from Ferran Jutglà from well outside the box ending up in the back of the net.

Into the second half and Atalanta pulled one back almost immediately, Ademola Lookman netting from inside the box from a Davide Zappacosta cross.

La Dea looked revitalised and had a goal ruled out, before being awarded a penalty through VAR as Juan Cuadrado was pulled down.

Lookman stepped up hoping to add another to his side's tally, but had his attempt saved by Simon Mignolet.

With the tie almost over, Rafael Tolói seemed to lose his head and go after an opposition player, with the referee given no choice but to show a red card.

Brugge will face either Lille or Aston Villa in the last 16 of the competition.

Benfica win wild contest to advance over Monaco

Scorers: Aktürkoğlu 22' Pavlidis 76' (PEN); Minamino 32' Ben Seghir 51', Ilenikhena 81'

A crazy tie saw Benfica earn a 3-3 draw on the night with Monaco, giving them a 4-3 win on aggregate.

Benfica took the lead when Vangelis Pavlidis flashed the ball across goal, just as Muhammed Kerem Aktürkoğlu was arriving unmarked at the far post and was able to slide the ball home.

But the Ligue 1 side battled back, halving the aggregate deficit when Takumi Minamino got in front of his defender at the near post and slammed his shot beyond goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin.

After half-time, Monaco managed to turn the game around on the night, drawing level overall with a superb curling effort from the edge of the box by Eliesse Ben Seghir.

This topsy-turvy game took another twist as Pavlidis continued his Champions League scoring streak when he converted a penalty with just under 15 minutes of normal time remaining.

But Monaco would not give up, and put themselves ahead on the night when substitute George Ilenikhena went on a superb solo run and buried his shot under Trubin seconds after coming on. .

The reply from Benfica came almost immediately afterwards, as Orkun Kökçü stuck out a leg from a hopeful ball towards goal and turned the ball in.

And while the Portuguese side had a late penalty denied through a lengthy VAR check, they came out on top and will face Barcelona or Liverpool in the knockout stage.

Milan made to pay by Feyenoord at San Siro

Scorers: Giménez 1'; Carranza 73'

Red card: Hernández 51'

Feyenoord earned a 1-1 draw with Milan at San Siro in their second leg playoff tie, advancing to the knockout stages with a 2-1 aggregate win.

Milan got off to a flying start when Santiago Giménez – playing against the club he left in January – headed in from a corner after only 36 seconds.

The Rossoneri continued to press for a second throughout the first half, with João Félix sending his shot just wide and Theo Hernández hitting the post with his attempt.

Yet the tide turned in the second half and with the match delicately poised at 1-1 on aggregate, Hernández was sent off for his second yellow card, this time for simulation.

Feyenoord then struck, as Hugo Bueno floated in a superb cross towards the back post, which was met with a strong header from Julián Carranza to put the Dutch side ahead overall in the tie.

The Rotterdam-based side will now face either Inter or Arsenal in the Round of 16.

There will be four more UCL ties on Wednesday evening, including the dramatic conclusion of the Real Madrid and Manchester City playoff fixture.
