LAFC signed Jeremy Ebobisse as a free agent, a veteran forward who agreed to a deal through 2027, with an option to extend to 2028. At the age of 27 years, he comes through from both the Portland Timbers and San Jose Earthquakes, having made 229 appearances and netting 68 goals over his MLS career.

The arrival of Ebobisse completes the attack for a team that already has Olivier Giroud as an important offensive reference. A career of solidity is what he has had. Ebobisse's name sounds very familiar in Major League Soccer, where on three different occasions, he has scored double-digit goals. Among his highlights includes lifting the MLS is Back Tournament in 2020 with Portland Timbers.

While the numbers don't show a prolific striker, he has built a reputation as a steady and reliable player-a trait highly valued in a league where physical demands and constant schedule adjustments require squads to be deep and prepared.

John Thorrington, LAFC co-president and general manager, said: "Jeremy is an experienced forward in our league who has scored goals and made significant contributions to his teams throughout his career. We're thrilled to have him join us to strengthen our attack as we continue our ambitions to compete for multiple trophies in 2025."

How Ebobisse fits into LAFC's plans

Already a formidable one after landing Olivier Giroud as a Designated Player last season-one of the biggest names in global soccer-LAFC's offense now became even more enviable. Ebobisse deepens the attacking contingent, bringing in more options for whatever situation may crop up in the course of the match.

This depth is so crucial in a league like MLS, where rotation within the roster is an important necessity. With prior experience of being in the league, Ebobisse will be perfectly placed to hit the ground running - be it starting in specific moments or coming off the bench as a dependable option.

Expected impact for 2025

In 2024, LAFC enjoyed some real success: It had won the US Open Cup earlier in the year and ended the regular season first in the Western Conference. Its playoff quest came to an end at the Audi MLS Cup semifinal stage, where LAFC lost to the Seattle Sounders, underlining where adjustments will be necessary as it plots the next step.

A deal with Ebobisse now shows long-term commitment on the pathway of building a roster in LAFC that is both competitive and sustainable. It's about longevity, not just bringing in short-term results, but laying a foundation toward being one of the best teams this league will see in seasons.
