Friday night’s La Liga double header saw two wins as Elche and Valencia secured their first victories of the campaign.

Newly promoted Elche won their derby clash with Levante – and a battle between two teams back in the top-flight- and they are unbeaten in three games back in La Liga.

Getafe landed at the Estadio Mestalla with back-to-back wins but they came up short against an improving Los Che.

Here’s how Friday’s action unfolded…

Elche 2-0 Valencia

Successive 1-1 draws have secured a solid start for Elche and they stepped up to claim all three points at home to neighbours Levante.

The hosts excelled from the off with Alvaro Rodriguez brilliantly denied early on and Rafa Mir bagged his second goal in as many games to bullet Elche in front right after the restart.

That ignited Elche and Rodri Mendoza double their advantage on 51 minutes to wrap up a key first win of 2025/26.

Valencia 3-0 Getafe

Valencia drew at home to Real Sociedad in their opener and then lost at Osasuna last weekend.

However, they hit the ground running against in-form Getafe, as Mouctar Diakhaby headed home a first half corner.

Getafe had chances to haul themselves back into the contest either side of the interval before Arnaut Danjuma curled home his first goal since joining from local rivals Villarreal earlier this month.

Hugo Duro added a third in added to give Carlos Corberan’s side a late flourish.

All four sides involved in Friday’s games will now pause for the incoming September international break after three games played so far in 2025/26.

Elche’s brilliant start to the campaign moves them up to sixth in table with Valencia in ninth as Getafe stay fifth.

Real Madrid play host to Mallorca tomorrow, after two wins from two, with defending champions Barcelona signing off on August with a trip to take on Rayo Vallecano on Sunday night.
