The exit door is rapidly approaching for Kylian Mbappé (25) as his seven-year stay at Paris Saint-Germain comes to a close. There is only one final game of the season remaining for the French champions as they take on Olympique Lyonnais in the Coupe de France final.

The match on Saturday will be the final time that the France captain will wear the PSG shirt before he makes his long-anticipated move to Real Madrid. There is of course the chance that Luis Enrique has one last trick up his sleeve and doesn’t select the club’s all-time top goal scorer but that feels somewhat unlikely.

Yesterday evening before Mbappé returned to training today after a short break attending the Cannes Film Festival, the forward hosted a farewell party. A short fragment of his speech was widely shared on social media by Marca, where the forward gave his thanks to those present.

Mbappé stated, “Here, we’re family. All the people here, I consider you as loved ones so it’ll be easy to talk and open my heart. There is no message to convey, no ambiguity to give. You are the people that I want to thank from the bottom of my heart. If you are here, it is that you have at one point, influenced my life.”

A message that made it notable that the PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was not present at this farewell party, particularly after the president had been snubbed in Mbappé’s public announcement.
