Manchester City captain Kyle Walker has confirmed the training plans for the club around Christmas, speaking during his latest podcast episode.

The Premier League champions find themselves in a rut across competitions with just one win in their last 12 matches and a run of outings that has also brought about nine defeats in the process.

It is those results that have largely ended Manchester City’s hopes of winning a fifth-consecutive Premier League title this season, as they fall to seventh in the division and 12 points behind leaders Liverpool – who have a game in hand on the teams around them.

The picture in the UEFA Champions League does not get any better for the Blues, as they lie 22nd heading into the final two matchdays of the league phase in the competition with points a non-negotiable from an away trip to Paris Saint-Germain and a meeting with Club Brugge.

And while some of the Manchester City squad have been keen to point out the unrelenting schedule on their ability to perform to the highest standard, it appears as though there will be no rest for the squad any time soon.

Speaking during the latest edition of the ‘You’ll Never Beat Kyle Walker’ podcast, the 34-year-old club captain revealed that Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City squad will be in training as normal on Christmas Day this year.

“We’ve been fortunate in the past couple of seasons that we haven’t had to train on Christmas Day,” the City captain said. “Most clubs [do], we are doing this season because we’ve got Everton at 12:30 on Boxing Day.”

He continued, “But the last couple of seasons we’ve had Christmas Day off, which has been very nice.”

Manchester City’s meeting with Everton on Boxing Day will be their penultimate clash of the calendar year, with Pep Guardiola’s squad closing out a historic 2024 with an away trip to face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

The schedule for the New Year begins with a home clash against West Ham United in the Premier League before attentions will turn towards the return of the FA Cup as Salford City visit the Etihad Stadium in the third round of the competition.
