Tim Kleindienst to miss UEFA Nations League finals through injury

Borussia Mönchengladbach's Tim Kleindienst will miss the UEFA Nations League finals for Germany through injury. The striker requires knee surgery and will therefore be unavailable for both club and country for several months.

The centre-forward twisted his knee during Gladbach's Matchday 33 clash against Bayern Munich, which ended in a 2-0 win for the Bavarians. Following further examinations, it became clear that an operation will be required to fix the problem, meaning the 29-year-old will be out for the foreseeable future.

Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus said, "Kleindienst's injury is bitter to swallow, both for him on a personal level and for us. We will do all we can to help him through the operation and his rehabilitation so that we can get him back to the level he has shown during his first season with us."

Head coach Gerardo Seoane added, "We all know how important Tim is to the way we play. Now, it's about supporting him and helping him recover as quickly as possible."
