A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid could be dropped to the bench from the off in the club’s next outing.

That’s according to Relevo, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

Real are of course primed to return to action on Wednesday night, when Carlo Ancelotti’s troops turn their attentions back towards matters on the continent, in a Champions League meeting with LOSC Lille.

The matchup comes just three days out from what marked an intense Madrid Derby showdown with Atlético in La Liga, which ultimately culminated in the shares being spoiled in a 1-1 draw.

In turn, it should perhaps not come as a major surprise to hear of the Blancos coaching staff taking into consideration a shake-up for Wednesday night.

As per a report from Relevo:

‘It is not ruled out that Federico Valverde will have his first benching of the season at Lille.’

Midfielder Valverde has for his part featured from the off in all 10 of Real Madrid’s fixtures across all competitions this season, in the process racking up more minutes than any other player in Europe’s top-5 leagues.

With another potentially tricky domestic outing against Villarreal to come this weekend ahead of the October international break, Carlo Ancelotti is therefore ready to afford his Uruguayan mainstay a well-earned rest tomorrow evening.
