As the second half of the 24/25 season begins to take shape, there are a host of storylines to watch unfold from a Manchester City point of view. Perhaps one of the biggest is Kevin De Bruyne’s future. The Manchester City legend is in the final six months of his current contract. At this stage, it is hard to gauge what the future has in store for Kevin De Bruyne. But it will be a topic that will rumble away over the coming months until a resolution is finally reached on Kevin De Bruyne’s future.

Earlier this week Kevin De Bruyne had a blunt response to questions surrounding his future. In an interview published by Richard Jolly for the Independent De Bruyne was asked if there has been a resumption of talks between he and Manchester City over a contract extension. His answer was typical of De Bruyne when he bluntly replied: “No. Nothing yet.”

Speaking before his team’s match with West Ham, Pep Guardiola explained that De Bruyne’s age and fitness issues could dictate his future at Manchester City. Guardiola explained: “He had problems in the last year and a half, like many players this year. Of course, when he is consistent and fit and can play regularly, I’ve said many times he’s a really important player for us and a decisive player. What is going to happen, how he is going to perform until the end of the season, the age that he is and many things, I think the club has to think about it.”

Only time will reveal what the future holds for Kevin De Bruyne.

Kevin De Bruyne’s future is one of the major talking points that surrounds the second half of the season. As it stands currently there is no clear indication of what the future holds for Manchester City legend. He started this season strongly before he suffered an injury against Inter Milan in September. Since that injury he has struggled to get back to his best as fitness issues have plagued the Belgian international. The hope is that De Bruyne can return to full fitness so he can get back to his best over the second half of the season.

But as for what the future holds for De Bruyne only time will reveal that answer. If he continues to have fitness issues across the second half of the season perhaps it will be time for De Bruyne to leave Manchester City. But if he gets back to his he may earn himself another contract at the world champions. But we will have to wait and see how the second half of the season unfold for De Bruyne and Manchester City before we have a resolution to the topic that is Kevin De Bruyne’s future.
