Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hails ‘honest’ Robert Lewandowski | OneFootball

Robert Lewandowski scored 344 goals and created 73 in 375 games at Bayern Munich and is one of the club’s most decorated players. Now at Barcelona, the Poland international will be reunited with his previous club when the two teams clash in the Champions League next week.

During his time at Bayern Munich, Lewandowski was the first player at the club to be named World Footballer, and speaking in an interview with kicker, former Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hailed ‘honest’ Lewandowski.

“There are a few transfers that were essential for the club,” said Rummenigge. “One of them was the transfer of Robert Lewandowski. He is a goal machine and a really good guy. I have never seen a more honest player than him.

“I could talk to him about anything. He always gave me an honest answer and not one that was pre-fabricated or to his advantage. You have to understand that this is not quite usual because my job was to promote the good of the club and not just his good.

“Ultimately, Robert was an incredibly important advisor to me. You can discuss football with him at an immensely high level and he is also a well-rested guy – extremely clever.”

Now reunited at Barcelona under former Bayern Munich head coach Hansi Flick, Lewandowski has scored 12 and created two in 11 games across all competitions for the Catalan club this season.
