Juventus head coach Thiago Motta has called AC Milan a ‘great team’ and praised his opposite number Paulo Fonseca ahead of the meeting in two weeks.
There are contrasting moods at Milan and Juve going into the international break. The Bianconeri beat their city rivals Torino to continue their title push, while the Rossoneri dropped points against a struggling Cagliari side and sit comfortably outside the top four.
The first game back after the break sees Fonseca’s side host Motta’s in one of the showpiece games of Italian football, between the two biggest clubs. Milan are obliged to win to prove that they should still be considered in the Scudetto race, before the train fully leaves without them.
Motta spoke at a press conference after Juve’s 2-0 derby win over Torino and he was asked about the game against Milan that comes after the break. MilanPress relayed his comments.
What do you think of Milan after the Real Madrid and Cagliari games?
“It’s part of football, all the games, right now there’s a lot of competition. Milan is another team that – playing in Europe – has to play a lot of games. They have a great coach, I’m not the one who discovered it, he did well in many jobs.
“There’s a lot of respect for the coach, for his staff and for the team that is Milan. When the time comes, in 12-14 days, we’ll prepare the game to the maximum to compete at the maximum against a great team in our league and against a coach who has always done a great job.”
