With the transfer market closure just around the corner, Chelsea have yet to make any breakthrough in their pursuit of Fermin Lopez.
The Premier League giants have not been able to convince the Barcelona attacker to push for an exit, nor have they managed to reach an agreement with the club itself.
The Catalans have acted very strictly in negotiations, refusing to budge from their €90 million price tag, even though the club desperately require fresh sales in order to manage the books.
But despite the lack of any real breakthrough, Chelsea remain interested in Fermin Lopez and are even pushing hard to sign the Barcelona attacker.
This was revealed by journalist Helena Condis, who shared a video of a serious-looking Fermin Lopez getting off the Barcelona team bus.
Fermin looked focused yet conflicted as he was the second to last player to leave the bus. It will be interesting to see how involved he will be in tonight’s game against Rayo Vallecano.
With Gavi injured, Fermin will have an excellent opportunity to make an impression and perhaps earn more game time in the weeks to come.
As far as Chelsea are concerned, the Blues are still interested in signing Fermin, but they are not willing to go beyond €50 million for his services.
This is understandable considering the fact that the Spanish international’s rise to prominence has been rather recent.
Not to mention, Fermin has yet to establish himself as a first-team regular for Barcelona. He has, however, immense potential, versatility and fighting spirit, all of which could be useful for Hansi Flick’s team this season.
With time running out, it is unlikely Chelsea will be able to make a breakthrough in the Fermin Lopez pursuit, despite their sustained interest.
