Leeds United Women kickstart their preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 FA WNL campaign by contesting the Julie Chipchase Trophy with Doncaster Rovers Belles on Tuesday evening.

At the helm of the Whites in 2006, Julie led the club to their first ever Women’s FA Cup Final after impressive spells with the Belles as both a player and manager.

Leeds go into the encounter as holders of the trophy, having beaten their South Yorkshire opposition 3-1 at the Eco-Power Stadium last year.

The fixture may also offer supporters a chance to see the Whites’ three new signings in action for the first time, as last week brought the arrivals of Chloe Dixon, Brittany Sanderson and Alayna Millard to the club.

This time, proceeds from the fixture will be donated to Ella Lynch’s brave battle with cancer. The nine-year-old is a member of the Leeds United Girls Shadow Squad and is currently undergoing treatment for an extremely rare form of liver cancer.

Ella will lead the teams out onto the pitch in Garforth, with her family aiming to raise money to help her make special memories. Ella’s fundraising page is available HERE.

Action from the Bannister Prentice Stadium gets underway at 7:45pm.

What has the boss said?

Looking ahead to the match, Leeds United Women’s manager Simon Wood gave his thoughts on the clash with the Belles.

“Preparations are going really well,” he said. “The new players we have brought in are bedding in really well. We have been in for around three weeks now and it is really nice to see the players from last season gelling really well with the new players.

“The tempo of the sessions have been really good, so it has given us lots to look forward to and be excited about for the season.

“With it being a memorial game for Julie Chipchase, it is really important for us as a club. The match is dedicated to one of our young supporters Ella, too, who is bravely undergoing treatment for cancer so we hope to make it a very special evening.”
