Julian Nagelsmann has announced the Germany squad for the upcoming international break where they will compete in the Nations League.
The biggest surprise in the announcement is the inclusion of Mainz’s Nadiem Amiri. The midfielder has experienced a revival in his career at the 05ers and is a key piece in their chase for Champions League football with six goals and three assists. Amiri returns after nearly five years away from the national team, his last game was against Czechia in November 2020.
There are also returns for Leon Goretzka who has been out of the squad since November 2023 and Karim Adeyemi who was last in the squad in the 2022 World Cup but has spent his recent international breaks with Germany’s under-21s.
Elsewhere, debuts are made for Inter Milan defender Yann Aurel Bisseck. The 24-year-old former Köln academy graduate has made himself a regular in Simone Inzaghi’s starting 11 this season.
During the break, Germany will face Italy in the Nations League quarter-finals. The first leg will be at the San Siro in Milan on the 20th before the second leg is played in Dortmund on the 23rd. The winner will host the Nations League finals in the summer.
