Liverpool’s post-title summer rebuild continues to gather momentum, and while the headlines have focused on Florian Wirtz, David Lynch has offered fresh insight into another significant target. Speaking to Dave Davis on Anfield Index, Lynch detailed Liverpool’s growing interest in AFC Bournemouth’s left-back Milos Kerkez, a player who seems more than open to a move to Anfield.
“It was only a couple of days ago that I was told there was no official bid in yet,” Lynch revealed, indicating the situation isn’t as far advanced as with Wirtz. However, he also warned that things could accelerate quickly, adding, “That bid could be going in right now as we speak and all of a sudden that news will break.”
The 20-year-old Hungarian has been linked with several top clubs this summer, but Liverpool’s approach seems notably more developed from the player’s perspective. Kerkez has reportedly left his national team squad, which many interpret as a sign that something is close. “Some Liverpool officials have been talking to him and been around him recently,” Lynch stated, “so I think the player side is more advanced than the club-to-club negotiations.”
Bournemouth’s asking price remains firm at £45 million, a figure Liverpool are unwilling to pay outright without negotiation. According to Lynch, “Bournemouth are still adamant on £45million, so now it’s all about how Liverpool want to get there with bonuses etc.”
This phrasing points to a familiar strategy from Liverpool’s recruitment team, who often seek flexible payment structures and performance-related add-ons. That could mean a base fee closer to £35 million, with the rest made up in achievable targets.
It’s worth noting that Arne Slot’s first season has set a new tone at Anfield. Winning the Premier League in his debut campaign has given him both trust and momentum. Now, reinforcing the squad, particularly in positions of tactical significance like left-back, is a key focus.
While Andy Robertson remains a popular figure on Merseyside, his injury record and advancing years mean Liverpool will need a reliable option for long-term succession. Kostas Tsimikas has not consistently offered that confidence. Kerkez, known for his energy, athleticism and positional awareness, could thrive under Slot’s aggressive, possession-based system.
The urgency around this transfer may increase as other clubs circle. Though Liverpool are believed to be leading the chase, Lynch noted, “I’m sure we will see movement on this one soon,” suggesting it’s not a question of if but when Liverpool make their move.

This could well follow the same blueprint seen in other recent deals, where player buy-in is secured early, paving the way for smoother club negotiations. The signs suggest Kerkez wants Liverpool, and that often proves decisive.
After a title-winning debut season, Slot’s first full transfer window is being managed with calm but calculated ambition. The club’s interest in Wirtz is further along, according to Lynch, but Liverpool’s recruitment team is known for working on multiple tracks simultaneously.
In Kerkez, Liverpool see a long-term solution at left-back who fits both the club’s age profile and tactical outlook. Bournemouth’s valuation may be steep, but if the player’s commitment is as strong as suggested, compromise may be found.
Liverpool’s transfer strategy remains methodical. The groundwork laid with Kerkez mirrors past successful pursuits where early player alignment led to smooth final execution. “That’s just what I was told a couple of days ago,” Lynch clarified about the timeline, “and at that point some of the reports were getting slightly ahead of themselves, but him leaving international squad suggests that things are moving along.”
Patience and precision, once again, may be the formula that brings another high-potential talent to Anfield.
