"I think it's normal if it happens one day. Coaching the Portuguese national team is normal if it happens. I could have and even this year I could have gone to coach a good national team, but I can't."

"I think one day I will coach Portugal, all players dream of representing the National Team, I do too. It's just a matter of choice I never did it, but I had opportunities. It was too early, I had completely different goals."

Mourinho also stated that coaching at a World Cup is something he wants to do: "Definitely, whether for Portugal or any other team... I think it should be with Portugal. It's something that should happen quite naturally and I think one day it will."

The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager also talked about returning to club management in his native country.

"If one day it happens it might be yes, it just has to be at the right time and in the past there was a possibility of it happening, but at the wrong time. As a principle I say 'I will never coach a club in Portugal'. I don't say that, they are great clubs, how can I say no."

José Mourinho will be back in his home country this weekend when his Fenerbahçe face off against Benfica next Saturday, July 26th, in a match for the Eusébio Cup.
