Jorge Sampaoli confirms Kyogo Furuhashi’s impending Rennes move | OneFootball

Stade Rennais manager Jorge Sampaoli has confirmed the impending arrival of Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi (30).

As reported by Le Parisien on Wednesday, Rennes are set to sign the Japanese forward in a deal worth €12m. Furuhashi has notched 12 goals this season for Celtic and has earned himself a move to Rennes, who have been in the market for a forward this January.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Sampaoli has confirmed his impending arrival. “We are hoping that the deal is completed today for Kyogo and if that is the case, he could have minutes against Monaco. He is a player that we really wanted and who can bring us depth,” said the Rennes manager. SRFC face AS Monaco in the Principality on Saturday. The club are therefore in a race to complete the deal and to register him in time to face Les Monégasques.

L’Équipe and Ouest-France understands that Jota (25) will move in the opposite direction. The Portuguese forward has struggled to make an impact following his move from Saudi Arabia in the summer and is therefore set to rejoin Celtic in a separate deal.
