Manchester City are on the verge of wrapping up a deal to sign Rayan Cherki (21). However, according to a report from L’Équipe, Olympique Lyonnais’ owner, John Textor, had initially hoped to send the player to Nottingham Forest, a club with whom he has conducted plenty of business in recent times.
It is reported in the UK that Nottingham Forest will conclude a £30m deal to sign Botafogo trio Igor Jesus, Cuiabano, and Jair Cunha. Botafogo, like Lyon, are owned by Textor. Last season, there was also movement with Moussa Niakhaté and Orel Mangala joining OL from the Premier League side. L’Équipe understands that Matt Turner and Danilo could join OL this summer in a combined deal worth €30m.
Cherki could have been another deal between the two clubs. L’Équipe understands that Textor had initially pushed the player towards joining Nottingham Forest. However, the France international is expected to join Manchester City soon in a deal worth just over €40m.
