Manchester City recently welcomed Jonas Brothers lead singer and City fan Joe Jonas to the Etihad Stadium.

The singer, songwriter and actor was in town with the Jonas Brothers to perform at Co-op Live. The recently opened state-of-the-art arena is situated just opposite the site of Manchester’s newest entertainment destination, which is currently being built on the Etihad Campus.

Ahead of their gig, Joe, and fellow City fan and Jonas Brothers drummer Jack Lawless, received a whistle stop walking tour of the Etihad Stadium and had the opportunity to look at the Club’s ambitious £300m plans.

Commenting on the plans, Joe ‘loved’ that City Square was inspired in part by his fellow Americans love of pre-match tailgating, which sees fans gather together before a game.

Once opened in Summer 2026, the new covered fan zone will bring together up to 3,000 fans for pre and post-match entertainment – providing match attendees with one of the best fan experiences in world sport.

Asked why he thinks tailgating is so popular in the United States, Joe said supporters "enjoy the camaraderie" and said he would "love to come back to enjoy a bacon butty and pint of Guinness" with fellow City fans.

Joe was equally blown away by the CGI visuals of the Entertainment destination, showcasing what’s in store for fans and global visitors alike, stating “it looks like something out of the Avengers - very cool” and he “thinks fans will love it”.

Of course, no musicians visit to the home of the Blues would be complete without receiving the new Manchester City Definitely Maybe inspired kit.

Co-designed by PUMA and lifelong City fan and fellow musician Noel Gallagher, the pair received the limited-edition collector’s gift-box version, which immediately got their stamp of approval.

Joe Jonas isn’t the first musician to praise the Club’s plans. Earlier this season, Kings of Leon drummer and City fan, Nathan Followill, said “It looks like its own Olympic village. Amazing. Phenomenal” after his visit to the Etihad Stadium.

Approved proposals for the entertainment destination are centred around an expanded North Stand, which will see the Club increase the Etihad Stadium capacity to over 60,000.

The new development will include a stunning new sky bar with views overlooking the pitch, a stadium roof walk experience and a covered City Square fan zone, with capacity for 3,000 people.

In addition, the new development will also boast a wide variety of food and drink outlets, a new club shop, museum experience, commercial office space and a 400-bed hotel.

More information on the plans can be found here.
