Joe Cole also talking about the other ‘issues’ surrounding this match.

The Newcastle v Liverpool game taking place seven days before the summer 2025 transfer window.

It promises to be some night…

Joe Cole talking ahead of Newcastle United facing Liverpool in the Premier League:

“The story going into this game has become monumental over the last few weeks.

“The Alexander Isak saga that has dominated the summer will drag on and will cast a shadow over the game on Monday night.

“I don’t like how he’s behaved. I try to look at it from his perspective and I do understand, but on a personal level, I don’t think it’s right, and I can’t see a way back for him.

“However, let’s not forget what a great game this is going to be.

“Liverpool got their season off to a great start with the win over Bournemouth, and Newcastle more than deserved the point they gained at Villa Park.

“With that in mind, I’m going with a draw in this game because I can’t separate them.

“I did worry for Newcastle before last weekend, but looking at how they set up and performed, they’ll do well.

“It will be a high-scoring game too, both teams will get chances to score more than once, so I’m looking at over 3.5 goals.

“As usual for a Liverpool game, I’m going with Mo Salah to score. He scored late last week, making it seven goals in eight opening day games for him and I can see him getting another here because he’s a machine.

“For Newcastle, I’m going to back Anthony Gordon to score. He was playing in a central position last week and he nearly got in behind on three or four occasions, one of which led to the sending off. He could be a good bet to score in any Newcastle game this season.”

Some interesting predictions there from the former England player, predicting a draw, at least four goals and both Mo Salah and Anthony Gordon to score.

I wouldn’t argue against any of these four things happening, in what looks sure to be a full on encounter.

As for what happens with Alexander Isak?

Who cares, all that matters on Monday night is Eddie Howe and his team delivering three points.
