Sky Germany reports that Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong is interested in leaving Bayer Leverkusen this summer and taking the next step in his career.
Frimpong recently extended his contract at Leverkusen until 2028 but it seems that a release clause of around €40m has been added, meaning if any club pays this fee the 22-year-old will be able to leave the club.
Leverkusen have already begun preparing for the departure of Frimpong as in the summer they signed Arthur from Brazilian side America MG and once he returns from injury he can then be utilised more to eventually replace Frimpong. The other route is that Arthur stays as an understudy and Leverkusen invests in a right-back who can immediately slot into Xabi Alonso’s side.
Frimpong has been one of Leverkusen’s standout players over the past few seasons. Since moving to the club in 2021, the 22-year-old has developed into a marauding full-back who is vital to how Leverkusen play. This season alone, Frimpong has already scored six and assisted six in 17 games.
