Former Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy looks set to find his new club. The legendary English attacker had been linked with a reunion with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic but now, he looks set to move to Serie A side Cremonese.
In an update from Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Vardy has agreed a one year deal with the Italian outfit which will include an option for a second year.
Vardy’s profile was known to Celtic, especially given the Leicester connection with Brendan and Kasper Schmeichel. However, you imagined if Celtic were interested in the player then they would’ve sanctioned a move early in the window.
Released by Sheffield Wednesday at 16, he rose from non-league football with Stocksbridge Park Steels, Halifax, and Fleetwood Town before joining Leicester City in 2012. Vardy became central to Leicester’s miraculous 2015–16 Premier League title, scoring in a record 11 consecutive matches. Known for his pace, pressing, and finishing, he has netted over 170 goals for Leicester, making him the club’s all-time top Premier League scorer. Vardy also represented England at Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup before retiring from international duty in 2018.
