Tottenham Hotspur completed the signing of Ghana international attacker Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United yesterday, and he is set for an awkward reunion with Spurs star Micky van de Ven.

The former Hammers star and the Tottenham defender were involved in an altercation last season, which resulted in Kudus being banned for five games.

The new Spurs signing was sent off for violent conduct for altercations with Van de Ven and Pape Sarr during the game last October, and he was given an additional two-game suspension after the game.

Kudus is now teammates with the Dutchman and James Maddison has teased the defender on Instagram.

Tottenham parted with £55 million for Kudus and manager Thomas Frank will hope he manages to hit the ground running and replicate his form from his debut Premier League season at the club.

The 24-year-old notched eight goals and nine assists in 33 league games for West Ham in 2023-24 after ending his last season in the Eredivisie with Ajax with 18 goals and seven assists in all competitions.

Kudus suffered a dip in form last term, bagging just five goals and four assists in 35 games across all competitions, and he will be desperate to prove himself at Spurs.

Frank is looking to get Tottenham firing on all cylinders again and challenging for the top-four after the club finished 17th in the Premier League under Ange Postecoglou last term.

Winning the Europa League – the club’s first trophy since 2008 – was not enough to save the Australian, and Frank knows he needs to start getting results immediately.

Spurs will be playing in the league phase of the Champions League next season and they need quality squad depth if they want to impress and improve their domestic fortunes.
