Burnley have agreed a deal with Chelsea for Armando Broja, with the transfer set to be permanent according to Fabrizio Romano.

Broja came through the academy at Chelsea, but has had a difficult last two years following an ACL injury picked up in the 2022/2023 campaign.

The Albania international had a disappointing loan spell at Fulham in the second half of the 2023/2024 season, and spent last season on loan at Everton.

Armando Broja to join Burnley

Broja struggled at Goodison Park, having joined injured, and he failed to find the back of the net in his 12 appearances for the club in all competitions.

The 23-year-old is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues are said to have set an asking price of £25m for Broja.

Considering the lack of football he’s played over the past couple of seasons, it seems a very ambitious asking price.

However, it appears Chelsea’s demands have been met, and Broja is set to join Premier League new boys Burnley according to Romano.

He took to X.com and said:

“It’s over between Armando Broja and Chelsea: understand the transfer to Burnley will be permanent.

“Broja will complete his medical in the next 24h and sign long term deal with Burnley.

Broja made 38 appearances for Chelsea in total, scoring three goals and registering two assists, and did have interest from clubs in Europe.

Chelsea sales picking up

Broja follows Noni Madueke and Joao Felix out the door in terms of attackers, with Chelsea still looking to move on Christopher Nkunku.

Djordje Petrovic and Kepa Arrizabalaga have also left, and outgoings are now starting to pick up, although there’s still work to do.

The biggest challenge Chelsea face is trying to find new homes for high earners Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling, and their departures will save the Blues over £500,000 per week in wages.
