‘It’s f***ed up’ – Barcelona star jumps to defence of former manager Xavi | OneFootball

Barcelona star Pau Cubarsí has on Thursday moved to reiterate his appreciation for former Blaugrana head coach Xavi.

Cubarsí, for his part, enjoyed his explosion onto the world stage under the watch of Xavi during the 2023/24 campaign.

Trusted with a prominent role despite his tender years, the defender wasted little time in repaying the faith of his manager, courtesy of a whole host of standout performances at the back.

Cubarsí, from here, has gone on to establish himself as an undisputed starter at the heart of Barcelona’s defence, as well as a fresh face in the Spanish senior national team setup.

Speaking to the media whilst on international duty this week, the 17-year-old therefore made use of the opportunity to thank Xavi for all he did for his career.

Not only that, but Cubarsí made clear how unfair he feels the criticism regularly aimed in his ex-manager’s direction is:

“When he left, I was able to call Xavi and thank him for what he did for me. I will always be grateful to him. It’s f**ked up when you see how they criticize the manager who gave you everything.”
