Brendan Rodgers yesterday gave an update on the two transfer sagas of Celtic’s summer involving Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah, and expects the Portuguese midfielder to sign imminently while being more coy about the Idah situation, respecting the fact that the Irish striker remains a Norwich City player, for now at least.

On Bernardo, Rodgers told Sky Sports: “Hopefully it’s a matter of hours. He’s due in for a medical so hopefully all will be well We still have work to do. In transfers, there’s always moving parts, it’s never as easy as just seeing a player and bringing him in. But I would hope by the end of August we would have the team set up how we would’ve wanted it, because it’s so important.

And on Idah, who the red tops are reporting this morning, that he will be a Celtic player this weekend, Rodgers said: “Adam’s a Norwich player. I’ve said that he did fantastic with us last season and we’ll just see what happens over the coming weeks.”

Rodgers also re-stated the club’s position on Matt O’Riley’s valuation, revealing that all bids received so far have been well short of the £25m that Celtic want for the player.
