Football can be strange at times, and FC Barcelona are no strangers to that fact. After all, there are many examples that prove this throughout the Catalan club’s long history. However, even the footballing world of today rarely provides things to surprise Barcelona.

Still, loyalty is something that certain players and clubs value a lot, especially in this day and age of big money moves and shock transfers. At times, it can even stop players from chasing their most real dreams if it would result in them betraying the loyalties that they currently hold.

While Barcelona continues to extend the loyalties of some of their best players, with the contract renewals of players such as Lamine Yamal now already official, other players remain distant from the club due to their own unique loyalties. One such player, as per recent reports, could be Espanyol goalkeeper and Barcelona transfer target Joan Garcia.

Joan Garcia would not mind playing Espanyol

Given his allegiance to that club, a direct local rival for Barcelona, certain reports suggested that his loyalty to Espanyol would not let him join Barça. However, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, he seems to have no issue in confessing that he would be up for the challenge to face Espanyol if things came down to that:

“It would be nice to play against Espanyol. These things can happen.”

The 24-year-old La Liga goalkeeper then proceeded to elaborate on that statement, and claimed that he tends to always look at the positive aspect of things:

“I try to look for the positive side of things, and if it happens, I will accept it with enthusiasm.”

Barcelona might consider this a good thing

While this may seem like a normal statement by itself, it also confirms that the player is not completely against the idea of playing against his current club. With recent reports also suggesting that his future remains open for now, Barcelona might as well have a chance to secure a real target of theirs.

As one of the most outstanding goalkeepers in La Liga this past season, it is no surprise that he managed to catch Barça’s attention. However, there is also the case of Wojciech Szczesny to keep in mind for the Catalan giants, as the player is now reportedly close to signing his own renewal as well.
