Jamal Musiala spoke at Bayern Munich’s press conference this afternoon and emphasised the learnings he and his teammates took from the tricky game against Bayer Leverkusen last Saturday.
"I think we've talked about it, we've had a lot of possession this season. We've never experienced anything like what happened against Leverkusen, where we had to defend so much.
“It was a good experience - something like that had to happen at some point, so we can learn from it. And we can take that with us into the games that are coming up.
The 21-year-old, who recently penned a new deal at the Bavarian club until 2030, was aware they didn’t give their best performance at the BayArena but still achieved an important result.
The atmosphere is positive, we didn't have our best day in Leverkusen - and still didn't lose, which is a good signal for the whole team.
“There's a lot of things we can do better, but the team spirit, the ability to fight, to keep a clean sheet, is something we need if we want to go far.
Looking ahead to tomorrow night’s Champions League play-off second-leg clash with Celtic, Musiala is under no illusion that it will be a matter of just turning up.
"It won't be an easy game, we saw what it was like in Glasgow. We have to prepare well, make sure we are fresh and mentally ready.
“We have to be 100% there, we have to start strong right away - and we hope that we win"
“None of us want to have excuses. We're using the days to prepare well for the game - then we have to give it our all. We're fresh and will give it our all tomorrow.
Vincent Kompany's men take a 2-1 aggregate lead into the clash with the Scottish champions as goals from Michael Olise and Harry Kane secured victory in Parkhead last Wednesay.
