Is Will Alves going to start for Leicester next season?

A lot is about to take place for Leicester during the coming months. Although the exact aspects are unknown at this time, many believe that the best path forward for the foxes is to see an intensified and renewed push among the youth players. This will mean letting go (whether by choice or otherwise) of players such as Mads Hermanson and Jamie Vardy.

One positive angle to look at this from would be the ability to have a lengthened look and in-depth assessment of who the Foxes have waiting in the wings. This could potentially prove to be the case for Will Alves. Currently on loan at Cardiff City, he is under contract at LCFC until June of 2028.

Although he obviously wasn't able to take part in Ruud van Nistelrooy's City demotion, he will have gained valuable experience for the league in which his mother club is about to be participating in. As is, the midfielder shows a lot of promise, and many are excited about what he could potentially offer if properly developed.

At only 19 years old, there is still a lot of room and potential for him to continue to grow his game. Some encouraging signs from him are his willingness to take on defenders and play free, not worried about making mistakes. That aspect in particular is likely to come as a welcome surprise to City supporters. If the club, for example, manages to keep Vardy, the longtime veteran would instantly have a willing partner in the attack.

Promising start for Leicester City player

It's a small sample size as of now, but Alves appears to have the quality and needed mindset to impose his will on opposing back lines and put the ball in danger areas. Case in point: at Cardiff City he has started to get a more consistent run of starts, and against Preston North End, he managed to put one in the back of the net.

It's unknown what the Leicester roster will look like exactly, but Alves' status of staying in the East Midlands doesn't appear to be in jeopardy. Depending on how the rest unfolds, his name being in the LCFC starting XI could become something of a permanent fixture.
