Ipswich Town Football Club can now officially call themselves a Premier League team.

It was an outstanding campaign for the Tractor Boys, as they took to life back in the Championship extremely well.

Kieran McKenna’s side managed to get over the line in the final game of the season, and they will now enter the summer transfer window as a Premier League team.

This is exciting for the football club because, since the new owners have arrived at the club, Ipswich haven’t been afraid of flexing their resources in League One and the Championship.

Now that they are in the top flight, the club could be able to expand their resources further, and that might already be being shown, as the club is being linked with a summer move for Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah.

Now that Ipswich Town are a Premier League team, it may be expected for them to be operating in a different market than they were while in the EFL.

That is already a possibility, as according to TEAMtalk, the Tractor Boys are planning to move for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.

The report states that the 24-year-old is likely going to be allowed to leave the Premier League side this summer.

Nketiah has played a role in Arsenal’s pursuit of a Premier League title this season, but his role has mainly come from the bench.

It is now believed that the Gunners have told the forward that he is free to leave the club once the summer transfer window opens, as long as they get the right price.

This report adds that Ipswich are planning to make some exciting transfers this summer, with Nketiah definitely fitting into that bracket. However, you do wonder that if Ipswich do get a deal over the line for the Arsenal man, then it could be bad news for Kieffer Moore and him returning to Portman Road.

Ipswich brought in striker Kieffer Moore on loan until the end of the season in the January transfer window, as he had fallen down the pecking order at AFC Bournemouth.

Moore has previous experience with the Tractor Boys, as he was with the club for a year between 2017 and 2018.

McKenna decided to add a bit more firepower to his forward line in January, and the addition of Moore did just that.

The 31-year-old played 18 times in the league for Ipswich, during which time he scored seven goals and even chipped in with an assist.

The striker did well in his short time at the club, outperforming his xG, which was at 5.30. His scoring frequency was every 164 minutes of football.

Moore could have potentially added more goals during his time at Portman Road, as he averaged 2.4 shots per game, and he missed eight big chances as well. However, he did finish the season with a decent goal conversion, which stood at 16%, as per Sofascore.com.

The Bournemouth striker did well in his six months at Ipswich, enough to suggest that the club could look to sign him on a permanent deal this summer.

However, now that reports have emerged that Ipswich could be looking to sign Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal, you just wonder if that means the club is not looking at adding Moore to their ranks on a permanent basis.

Obviously, Moore and Nketiah are very different players and would both offer different things to Ipswich, so there is a possibility the club signs both this summer.

But given the Tractor Boys already have forwards at the club, adding someone like Nketiah, who is going to want to play week in and week out, or there is no point in him leaving Arsenal, does heighten the feeling that Ipswich will then have other priority positions to sort.

It is understandable why Ipswich would be looking to sign someone like Nketiah. He’s got experience in the Premier League and has shown this season, and in previous campaigns, that he knows how to score goals - he's a poacher and, given chances, he will take them.

It might just be expected that if Ipswich do get a deal over the line for Nketiah, and that is still a big if, then Moore may have to look at alternative plans this summer and returning to Portman Road may not be on the cards despite his role in this impressive achievement overseen by McKenna.
