Henrikh Mkhitaryan believes that Lazio won’t make the same loss in Tuesday’s Coppa Italia clash with Inter Milan as in December’s 6-0 loss.

The Armenian spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews. He gave his thoughts ahead of the quarterfinal showdown, anticipating a tough outing.

Inter Milan take on Lazio in the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia this coming week.

The Nerazzurri and the Biancocelesti have already faced off on one occasion this season. That was a Serie A match in December.

And that match ended with an extremely decisive scoreline. Playing away at the Stadio Olimpico, Inter scored six goals to hand Lazio by far their biggest defeat of the season.

Therefore, it would be hard not to see Inter as the favourites in Tuesday’s quarterfinal clash.

However, at the same time, the match will start at 0-0.

And there would be more reasons for Lazio to be confident than might be immediately apparent.

For much of the first half hour of the league meeting in December, Lazio had put in a very impressive performance, arguably having been the better side than Inter.

Moreover, the Biancocelesti have gotten quite a few impressive results against top rivals this season. These have included two wins and a draw against Serie A league leaders Napoli.

Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan gave his thoughts ahead of Tuesday’s match against Lazio.

“They’ll know how to play against us,” predicted the former Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund midfielder.’

“They’re not going to make the same mistakes as in the league match.

“Then, anything can happen,” Mkhitaryan said. “Because it’s a one-off match.”

Meanwhile, Mkhitaryan gave his thoughts on Inter’s Serie A clash with Napoli next month. That will be a top-of-the-table match, with just two points separating the two teams at the start of this weekend.

“It will be a very important match,” said the 36-year-old. “But not decisive.”
