Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram says that he is “trying to be more aggressive in front of goal” this season.

The Frenchman spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after scoring a hattrick against Torino in Serie A yesterday evening.

Thuram scored three goals against Torino yesterday evening.

That made it seven on the season for the 27-year-old. He is level with Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui at the top of the Serie A scoring charts.

Thuram scored plenty of goals last season. But not nearly as prolifically as he has at the start of this campaign.

The Frenchman is well on pace to exceed his goal tally from last season.

And while Thuram is not likely to keep scoring at a rate of one per game, he can seriously think about the possibility of finishing the season as Serie A’s top scorer.

The types of goals that Thuram is scoring are notable.

The Frenchman is not necessarily relying on technical ability or pace to score his goals.

Rather, Thuram is simply getting himself into positions to score. He is playing more and more in the opposition penalty area and close to goal.

Two of Thuram’s goals yesterday were headers from crosses that came in from wide areas.

And then the Frenchman completed his hattrick simply by being the first to react to a rebound.

Clearly, Thuram is starting to reap the rewards for confidence and refined instincts in the most dangerous parts of the pitch.

After yesterday’s match, Thuram commented that “I’m very happy.”

“It was importance to start getting positive results consistently after the last couple matches,” he said.

“Now we have to keep going like this.”

As far as his prolific start to the season, Thuram said that “We work on that every day at Inter.”

“Mentally, I try to be more aggressive in front of goal,” he said.

“Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. But the important thing is to keep working on it.
