Striker Marcus Thuram feels that Inter Milan are the “same team as last season” despite a few early stumbles this campaign.

The Frenchman spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s 3-2 Serie A win against Torino – a match in which he scored a hattrick.

Inter have now won two Serie A matches in a row by a scoreline of 3-2.

And it’s three consecutive wins in all competitions, with a 4-0 victory over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League in midweek.

The bottom line is that Inter are winning.

However, there are one or two reasons to worry that things are not quite the way they were last season.

Last campaign, Inter’s defensive record was the bedrock of their success in Serie A.

This time around, the Nerazzurri have conceded two goals in each of their last three league matches.

Clearly, that kind of defensive record is not sustainable if Inter are to successfully defend their Serie A title.

So the question is whether or not this is the same team that kept the most clean sheets and conceded the fewest goals in the division last time around.

Marcus Thuram: “We’re The Same Inter Milan As Last Season”

In the view of striker Thuram, however, “Nothing has changed.”

“We’re the same Inter as last season,” the 27-year-old said.

Thuram also noted that “I have a good chemistry with Lautaro. But the most important thing is that Inter win.”

“Scoring a hattrick in front of the fans is always a great thing,” he added.

Thuram scored twice in the first half and once in the second. This proved decisive in this evening’s 3-2 win over Torino.

The former Borussia Monchengladbach striker emphasized that “Scoring at the San Siro is always nice.”

“But winning is important,” he said of his hattrick heroics.
