Inter Milan are closing in on their first signing of the summer after reaching an agreement for Club Brugge prospect Tajon Buchanan, as per Belgian outlet HLN.

The Nerazzurri have struck a verbal agreement with the Belgian giants for Buchanan worth around €15 million.

The Canadian international has been excellent for Brugge this season, growing into an integral member of the side with 28 appearances in all competitions.

The 24-year-old has also attracted wider attention following his impressive World Cup campaign in Qatar.

Buchanan has been viewed as a replacement for right wing-back Denzel Dumfries, although the Canadian can play in a wide range of positions.

Dumfries has been heavily linked with an exit this summer, with the Dutchman changing his agent recently with the motive of moving to a new club.

The Premier League has been tipped as his next destination, with Manchester United and Chelsea keeping tabs on his situation.

Dumfries moved to San Siro from PSV Eindhoven in 2021 as a replacement for Achraf Hakimi, who had moved to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 27-year-old has been an undisputable starter for Simone Inzaghi, racking up seven goals and 13 assists in 86 appearances.

The Netherlands international’s importance has also grown after helping Inter reach the semi-finals of the Champions League this season for the first time in 13 years.

Inter have placed a price tag worth €60m on Dumfries in a bid to ease their financial situation.

The Nerazzurri are poised for a profit worth around €100m after reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League, but their finances could take a severe hit if they miss out on the top four in Serie A.

Inter are sixth in Serie A, four points off the final Champions League spot.
