Inter Milan were closely following defenders Isak Hien and Giorgio Scalvini during yesterday’s Supercoppa Italiana clash with Atalanta.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Inter are starting to plan for the future in defense.
At the moment, the Nerazzurri are relying on the aging – and increasingly injury-prone – Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij.
Therefore, there is no doubt that Inter will reinforce in the summer by signing a younger defender.
There are couple of notable names on Inter’s list from within Serie A.
These include Udinese’s Jaka Bijol and Lazio’s Mario Gila.
But then, Tuttosport notes, there are two players the Nerazzurri were able to scout up close and personal yesterday.
Atalanta defender Hien is reportedly one of Inter’s primary targets.
The Swede is a fast, physically strong defender with experience playing in the centre of a back three both with La Dea and with Hellas Verona.
Therefore, Hien would be a fairly stylistically apt heir to Acerbi and de Vrij.
Meanwhile, Scalvini is a long-term target for Inter. The Italian international is just coming back from a knee injury, and actually played in midfield yesterday.
Inter were able to watch how both Hien and Scalvini fared very closely.
