Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne has seen himself become the priority of Inter Miami ahead of the summer months, following his exit announcement last week.

It comes after the 33-year-old announced last week that after 10 years with the reigning Premier League champions, the ongoing campaign would be his final season in the sky blue and white of Manchester City.

It marks the end of a staggering era of success for both the club as a whole and De Bruyne on a personal note, having won everything available to him and the first-team squad on multiple occasions in English football as well as a first UEFA Champions League title.

There has been a growing feeling throughout the game that the Belgium international was approaching the end of his career at the very top of European football, with interest increasing across the Middle-East, Europe, and over in the United States.

And in light of De Bruyne’s announcement on social media that he would be leaving Manchester City at the end of his existing contract, interest in his services on a free transfer has only grown with one club taking the first big steps to securing the midfielder.

That is according to the information of The Athletic’s Paul Tenorio, who reveals that Inter Miami holds Kevin De Bruyne’s MLS ‘discovery rights’, giving the club the first right to negotiate with the Belgian international.

That development follows earlier reports confirming that David Beckham and the Florida-based side’s decision makers were strongly considering the idea of proposing a contract to the Manchester City legend for the upcoming summer.

However, it goes without saying that the midfielder would have to take a significant pay-cut in order to join the Major League Soccer club with his current salary at the Etihad Stadium believed to be in the region of £400,000-per-week.

Should Kevin De Bruyne agree to a switch to MLS and Inter Miami, he could form a staggeringly impressive partnership with football legend Lionel Messi, and perhaps become the division’s second-highest paid player behind the Argentine icon.
