Inter and Juventus target Jonathan David has admitted he is ‘open to anything’ when discussing his future options, as he is now into the final year of his contract with Ligue 1 side Lille.
The Canada international, who equalled his nation’s all-time goalscoring record with his winner against the USA on Saturday, has been linked with moves to several high-profile clubs across Europe over the last few months.
Recent reports suggest that both Roma and Napoli had made enquiries for the 24-year-old centre-forward over the summer, but both went in different directions, and ended up with Artem Dovbyk and Romelu Lukaku respectively.
As David is into the final year of his contract, Matteo Moretto confirms that Juventus and Inter could both be poised to make offers in January, when the player will be free to negotiate with whichever team he pleases, unless he signs a new contract with Lille before then.
The Athletic, meanwhile, suggest that there had been an approach from Chelsea over the summer, but a move to Stamford Bridge did not materialise.
Promisingly for the interested Serie A clubs, David admitted that he is not putting all of his eggs in the Premier League basket.
“I’m open to anything,” he told The Athletic.
“I think obviously the Premier League is regarded as one of the best leagues in the world. And for me, it’s not the Premier League or bust. I’m open to anything and every league has its challenges.”
