According to Sky Sports journalist Patrick Berger, some Borussia Dortmund players could be back in action following the international break. A few BVB stars were selected to represent their respective national teams in various competitions. For instance, three BVB starters featured in Germany's 2-1 against Italy for the first leg of the Nations League Playoffs, while others had little to no role in this Thursday's round of matches.

As reported by Berger, Carney Chukwuemeka, who has not been selected for his respective country, is using this international break to recover from his previous knee issues. His goal is to regenerate and be available to play against Mainz 05 right after the break is over. Another piece who could be seen featuring against Mainz is Daniel Svensson, who has made significant progress and could be an option once again.

On a more negative note, Felix Nmecha and Marcel Sabitzer are still likely to be out of combat for the next few BVB matches. While Nmecha looks closer to making a return to the squad despite still sticking to the rehab room, the Austrian veteran is still expected to miss out due to a recent injury against Leipzig, which could force him to be sidelined in the Champions League quarterfinals, facing FC Barcelona.

With the international break still in place and many BVB players representing their flags, BVB must use this pause to rehabilitate their injured and non-selected players. Niko Kovač will undoubtedly need all the help he can get for the next few key matchups against tough opponents like the Bavarians and the Catalans. These games could dictate the present and the future of Borussia Dortmund from now on.
