Manchester United’s preparations for the upcoming Europa League final are being overshadowed by a series of injuries, particularly in defence. Manager Ruben Amorim faces the challenge of assembling a competitive backline as key players remain doubtful or sidelined.
Leny Yoro sustained a foot injury during United’s recent 2-0 defeat to West Ham United. The 19-year-old defender did not participate in training sessions following the match and was absent from the squad in the subsequent game against Chelsea. Amorim expressed uncertainty about Yoro’s availability for the final, stating, “I don’t know if they are going to be available [for the Europa League final]. We are going to push, because it is a final and all the players want to play that really bad.”

Matthijs de Ligt suffered an injury during the Premier League loss to Brentford. While the severity of the injury remains unclear, Amorim is hopeful about the defender’s recovery in time for the final. He remarked, “I think they will not go to Chelsea, but we have a possibility to have some of them in the final.”
Diogo Dalot has been sidelined since sustaining a calf injury in last month’s defeat to Wolves. The Portuguese wing-back has resumed individual training, but his participation in the final remains uncertain. Amorim noted, “We’ll check week by week because he works really hard and he recovers quite well but we’ll see.”
As Manchester United approach the Europa League final, the team’s defensive lineup remains uncertain due to multiple injuries. Amorim’s decisions in the coming days will be crucial in determining the squad’s readiness for the pivotal match.
