Julen Lopetegui is set to find himself under the spotlight after West Ham‘s trip to Bournemouth on Monday night.
That is the prediction of BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton, who feels that the Cherries will have too much for the Hammers when Lopetegui takes his players to the south coast – and its hard to argue with Suttons view.
Bournemouth are well organised, disciplined and play a clear system under Andoni Iraola, essentially everything that West Ham are not this season, with many still calling for the club to end the tenure of Lopetegui following his arrival in the summer.
Although the Hammers came away with a vital win over struggling Wolves earlier this week, the manner in which it was achieved has done little to ease the concerns of the West Ham faithful and hierarchy.
Lopetegui appears to be a dead man walking in east London, with his sacking feeling inevitable – however Sutton does feel that West Ham will force a game out of Bournemouth on Monday night, but it won’t be enough.
“West Ham’s win over Wolves last time was a step in the right direction under Julen Lopetegui, but he needs to maintain that improvement over a longer period otherwise he is always going to be under pressure,” stated Sutton.
“Jarrod Bowen is looking sharp for the Hammers and I think they will make a game of this, but I can only see one winner here and it is Bournemouth.
“What a team the Cherries have been this season. They always create a lot of chances and I am expecting them to make it four wins in a row.” Sutton’s prediction: 2-1
