There’s loan interest from clubs abroad in Aaron Anselmino, but Chelsea haven’t fully decided what to do with the centre back according to Matt Law.
Chelsea agreed a deal to sign Anselmino for around £15m from Boca Juniors last summer, and they loaned him back for the season.
However, the Blues decided to recall Anselmino from his loan in January, and had him train with the club so he could get used to his new surroundings.
Anselmino had the opportunity to go on loan to Marseille, but Chelsea turned that down, with the 20-year-old playing no football between January and the end of the season.
The youngster was part of the squad for the Club World Cup, but he appeared for just two minutes across the whole tournament.
Anselmino made his Chelsea debut at the Club World Cup.
Anselmino has attracted loan interest from Real Betis, and the expectation is he goes out loan, despite the fact Levi Colwill is set to miss the majority of the season with an ACL injury.
Chelsea clearly see Anselmino as a talent, but he needs to go and play regularly in order to develop, and Law has provided an update.
“There’s definite loan interest in Anselmino from some big overseas clubs,” he told The London Is Blue Podcast.
“I’m told that Chelsea haven’t quite decided what they want to do with him yet.
So he could go on loan, he could stay, I suspect he’ll go on loan but let’s see on that one because Chelsea are adamant that no decision has been made on him yet.”
Whilst Chelsea decide what they are going to do with Anselmino, they have agreed a deal to sell Renato Veiga to Villarreal for €29.5m.
