Leeds United talent Rhys Chadwick-Chaplin has admitted that being from Leeds, it meant a lot to him to lead the Whites Under-18 side in the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday.

The 17-year-old defensive midfielder is a product of Leeds United’s academy system and has featured regularly for Leeds Under-21 side in the Premier League 2 this season.

On Tuesday, Chadwick-Chaplin captained the Leeds Under-18 team in the FA Youth Cup and guided the Whites youngsters to a 3-2 victory.

Chadwick-Chaplin stated that being a local boy and growing up through the Leeds academy system, to able to lead the Whites Under-18 team on Tuesday meant a lot to him.

The defensive midfielder assisted a goal in the game and thinks that he showed his character in the game against Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

When asked about captaining Leeds United’s side, Chadwick-Chaplin told LUTV: “Obviously, it means a lot.

“I am a Leeds boy, so it means a lot to captain a side and obviously shows my character and obviously, I love Leeds.”

The 17-year-old is a standout performer for the Leeds Under-21s team, as he has registered two goals and three assists in his ten appearances in the Premier League 2.
