Former Barcelona İlkay Gündoğan has taken to social media on Saturday evening, to send a message of support to the Blaugrana’s current crop of stars.

This, of course, comes ahead of Barcelona’s most high-profile fixture of the campaign to date.

Amid what has proven a stellar start to the campaign, Hansi Flick’s troops are primed to return to action in short order, in a showdown with arch rivals Real Madrid.

Emerge from the Spanish capital triumphant, and Barca will open up a six-point advantage atop the La Liga table.

And, as alluded to above, cheering on from afar as the Catalans set about securing as much will be İlkay Gündoğan.

Midfielder Gündoğan brought his short-lived Camp Nou chapter to a close this past summer, returning to Manchester City in a effort to aid Barcelona’s financial woes.

And the German, evidently, still bears a soft spot for his ex-club, having taken to his official ‘X’ account on Saturday to send the following pre-Clásico message to Hansi Flick’s squad:

‘Vamoooos! It’s been some great results and performances recently – very happy my former teammates are doing such an amazing job so far. Tonight the big, big game. Good luck & força Barça!’
