This time a week ago it was deadline day and Chelsea were busy with a lot of business.
One of those deals was sending Joao Felix on loan to AC Milan, just 6 months after he signed for Chelsea for £45m from Atletico Madrid. After a goal on his debut and a good showing in his first start for the Italian giants, Felix is already making noises about a permanent move.
In quotes picked up by SempreMilan, the nomadic Benfica youth product was open about his desire to make this loan permanent:
“For now I’m on loan. Let’s see how it goes. For the moment I’m really liking everything… I feel good here, but we know that in football things can change quickly. But if there was the possibility of staying at Milan I’d like to…”
Well, we’re sure many Chelsea fans would be happy to see that, frankly. For all his nice touches and brilliant finishes here and there, Felix is not the sort of player we need right now to turn Chelsea back into a winning machine.
Also quoted in the piece is AC Milan’s senior football advisor and walking cringe meme-lord Zlatan Ibrahimovic. In his inimitable and irritating style he explained how quick the deal had been to do:
“Conceição wanted João, we spoke and we decided to trust him for our project. It’s been a very fast negotiation”.
Let’s hope the deal to sign him in the summer is equally easy to do. If he continues scoring and playing well, there’s no reason it shouldn’t be, and the attacker can get his wish. As we wrote this morning, there are certainly ways to make it happen.
He already looks a better fit in Serie A than he ever was at Chelsea.
