Ex-Olympique Marseille defender Adil Rami has called on free agent Paul Pogba to join the Ligue 1 outfit.

Rami and Pogba were part of France’s World Cup-winning team, although the former did not feature en route to his side’s global conquest in Russia six years ago.

Having been found guilty of doping in 2023, Pogba was initially handed a four-year ban from all football activities. This was subsequently reduced to 18 months on appeal earlier this year.

The 31-year-old, who recently had his contract terminated by Serie A giants Juventus, is expected to sign for a new club in 2025.

While the player has not shed any light regarding his next move, Marseille appear to be leading the race for Pogba’s signature, and Rami would like to see his compatriot at the Orange Velodrome.

“Rumours say you’re going to OM, so I want to tell you that if it’s true, I’m very happy – this team needs more character,” Rami said during a Twitch live stream (h/t Foot Mercato).

“If it happens, I’m coming to Marseille – I’m coming with three, four or five jerseys that you’re going to sign for me, including one for my Twitch community.

“I’d be so happy to see you in Marseille – keep me posted, and we’ll catch up. If you need anything, I’m your soldier, and Marseille is a very good choice. I’m telling you the truth – I wish it for you, and I wish it for them.”

Pogba is currently undergoing personal training in Miami as he aims to work his way back to full fitness after a long period of inactivity ahead of his potential return to action in March.
