Ibrahim Mbaye: ‘A big step for me!' | OneFootball

The young Paris Saint-Germain forward tells us how happy he is to be turning professional with his academy club!

Ibrahim, you're turning professional, with PSG. How do you feel today?

‘This is a very big step for me. I'd like to thank everyone - the chairman, the coaches, the staff, the team and my family, who have always been there for me. For now, this is just the beginning, and I hope to go far!’

Can you tell us a bit about your journey?

‘When I was little, I preferred basketball! But my father showed me lots of football videos. Then I started playing for a club in my home town, Guyencourt, then I moved to Versailles. Then I joined the PSG Association, before moving on to the Pre-academy and then the Academy.'

You had your first training sessions with the pros, before playing your first match. What was that like for you?

‘I was very happy to join the professional squad. It was a real pleasure! I wasn't necessarily stressed, I really felt very happy. I was a bit stressed for the first match... I tried to play my game. It was a wonderful experience.'

You grew up alongside Warren, particularly in sporting terms. Is he a role model today, despite his young age?

'A Titi is always someone to look up to. Warren has always been someone I've followed, even though he's only two years older than me. He's a real hard worker, he never gives up!'What can we hope for in the short term?‘First of all, to recover well from my injury. Then I'm going to give 100% when I get back on the pitch.'
