“I wasn’t focused on the game” – Romeo Lavia on what distracted him completely | OneFootball

Romeo Lavia is in the middle of his second season at Chelsea, and it’s proving to be only slightly less injury-hit than his first, which was a total washout.

The midfielder isn’t due back anytime soon, giving him a chance to do lots of media duties, which this week included a really long and interesting interview with Rising Ballers.

They asked him all sorts, and you can see the full interview in the clip embedded here:

One of the highlights was Lavia being asked about the best advice he’s been given in his career so far – a career that has seen him shoot to the top of the game. He picked something a coach from Anderlecht had told him when he was just a kid:

“He told me to live every moment as if it was the last one. And not to take anything for granted. And that’s something that’s stuck with me, I was 14 back then, but since then every time I step on the pitch, everything I do really, I try to make the most of it and enjoy it as much as I can.”

There were tons of other interesting parts – he say the highlight of his career was playing against Cristiano Ronaldo.

“That moment, I remember as if it was yesterday. When he came onto the pitch, it was like time stopped. I wasn’t focused on the game anymore. For like two minutes. That was the moment that’s been the highlight. In those two minutes I’m thinking of all the goals I’ve seen on TV and Youtube… I was buzzing.”

It’s all very interesting and Lavia seems a really interesting, thoughtful guy. Now we just need to get him back on the pitch helping his team, who desperately need him.
