Everton goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan admits that the club’s first season playing at Goodison Park is an exciting prospect.

The Toffees’ women’s team move into the club’s spiritual home on a permanent basis following the men’s team’s move to the brand new Hill Dickinson Stadium over the summer.

Goodison Park becomes the largest dedicated women’s football stadium in the UK and Brosnan admits that she couldn’t be any more delighted about the move.

“I think it’s really exciting,” Brosnan said when speaking to WSL Full-Time. “Goodison Park is one of, if not the most historic stadium here in England. I think that there’s so much history there with the men’s team, but I think it’s really exciting for us as the women’s team to create our own history there.

“We’ve had games there in the past, but to be able to make it our permanent home and make it our fortress where we want to get wins and get results [is amazing]. I think it’s really exciting.”

Everton have made a number of eye-catching new signings over the summer and Brosnan says that the new recruits have brought lots of qualities with them to Merseyside.

She said “I think they’ve settled in really well so far. They all seem lovely and they’re really good players. The level of training has been quite high, but most importantly, they’re good people and good personalities.
I think it’s been nice to introduce them into the great group that we already have.”

The 2024/2025 campaign brought its challenges for Everton. The club eventually finished the season in eighth position in the Barclays Women’s Super League table. Brosnan spoke about the targets for the season ahead.

She said “For us, a big thing would be consistency. I think at times, we showed the level that we’re capable of and the great football that we can play, but maybe we didn’t do that on a consistent enough basis.

“I think for us, we know and believe what we can achieve in the level that we can play at. I think it’s putting in those performances week in, week out and showing that on the weekend to get results.”

Everton kick-off the new Barclays Women’s Super League season with a mouth-watering Merseyside derby at Liverpool and Brosnan says that she’s very excited to start the season at Anfield.

She said “Being a part of Everton Football Club, you know how important the Merseyside derby is; it means a lot to the club, to the community and to us as players.

“I think it’s really cool to have it as the first game of the season; you’re just thrown into the deep end, you get straight in there. I think it’s really exciting to play such an important game, straight off the bat.”

Everton’s opening Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Liverpool takes place on Sunday 7 September 2025.
